Key Characteristics Of The Motivated Mindset

motivation for the mind
To achieve success, your mind needs to see it first before it will happen physically.

Whether you’re trying to motivate yourself or trying to motivate others, it’s important to know that there are certain things that generally motivated people have in common. If you think this way, you’re probably fairly motivated.

If you want to be motivated, consider thinking of things in the following way. If you are a team leader, think of ways to either assemble a team of people that see things this way, or find ways to get people to see things from this perspective.

Maintain Or Achieve A Positive Outlook

Just about every resource out there on staying motivated mentions a positive outlook as a must-have character attribute. If you tend to have a more positive outlook, you’re likely a more motivated person.
If you don’t usually have a very positive outlook and you have trouble with staying motivated, it can be hard to change one to impact the other.

The good news is that positivity can be somewhat contagious. The kind of people you surround yourself with or decide to spend time with, to a very large extent affect the how motivated you are in pursuing your goals. Spending time around positive people (assuming that you are not positive yourself) or working around people with motivational problems (assuming that you are a positive person) can help to boost productivity.

Maintain Or Achieve A Healthy Lifestyle

Removing as much negativity from your space can have a tremendous impact on your success.

Many resources on motivation also point out that having a healthy lifestyle is important for motivation. This is largely because in many ways motivation is biological. Getting good sleep, plenty of exercise, and a healthy diet can all have an impact on how your body and mind work.

Many larger businesses have resources available for encouraging employees to have healthier lifestyles to increase their productivity. If your business doesn’t have access to that kind of resource, consider looking for ways to get a program started. If you are a healthy and self-motivated person, consider offering to give a little workshop or lecture to interested coworkers to get the ball rolling.

Understand Your Purpose

A 2012 article posted on the business networking site LinkedIn pointed out that truly motivated people see a purpose in what they do.

These days it seems like most people are just working for their pay check, but if people see a greater point in what they are doing, they are more likely to do a better job.
Every enterprise that operates based on funds serves a purpose, even if it can be hard to see that purpose from behind a desk.

Getting involved in or starting a community outreach program can be a great way to present your project or business to the community, but it can also be a great way to remind those involved about why their project or career is worth more than the money that they bring home.

Learn From Others

According to an article published by Inc., motivated people learn from others without judging. This both means judging others and judging one’s self against others.
What works for someone else may not work for you. Understanding where other people are coming from and making what you can from that information is an important part of being successful. Comparing yourself to other people usually isn’t.

Be Flexible

A 2016 article in Time magazine pointed out that motivated people are open-minded and have flexible beliefs. That doesn’t necessarily mean religious belief, it refers to personal philosophies about work.
As mentioned above, different people have ways of looking at the world or of getting things done. Very few situations are actually set in stone. If you go into a situation with a chiseled perception of how things are and how things should be done, you’re likely to miss out on a lot of opportunities.
This doesn’t only apply to situations, it also applies to ourselves. No one is constantly motivated. If you only have one way to work, you might be lost when you hit a slump or things don’t go your way.
